Warning- this post has no redeeming value, and certainly not educational.Perhaps I am going stir crazy while being on baby duty this weekend…
SO, anyone that knows me has seen me rock out a donut in 1 or 2 bites. My favorite is a nice warm honey glazed. I don’t need the fancy sprinkes or cremes, jellies or crullers. The other thing that people know is that I have a vice, and that is coffee. Yes, I like my java. Joe, mud, battery acid, cuppa, jet fuel, jitter juice, Morning Thunder, or my favorite- Wakey Juice. So,I have been to Dunkin Donuts my fair share of times over the last couple of days, and have seen some Shamrock Donuts devoured. And you know something? Why not? We all have to live a little.
What always makes me laugh and cry at the same time is when people at Dunkins order some sweetened coffee, and then go full on with the snacks. Let’s agree here- Dunk’s coffee is NASTY without the sweetener of choice (I usually need 2 splenda’s to gulp it down). If you like black coffee, go to Starbucks or your local Brazilian coffee shop/check cashing/mobile phone card/vuvuzela shop.
The orders I heard this morning while I waited for the new girl to make my coffee:
Skinny guy in his 30s I could probably buy a cable box from – regular, 2 cream, 2 shugah’s (hey, I live in Boston). 2 cinnamon raisin bagel. (side note- I had to spell check raisin).
Muffin top 50 year old lady: She was probably 45 but the years had taken its toll. Black coffee, Shamrock donut.
20 year old Eurotrashy skinny guy with Raybans driving Dad’s Lexus and looking like he came from the photo shoot for Hot Chicks with Douchebags. To be honest, I was too much in shock at his fur-lined coat to remember what he ordered.
After that I left. The last couple of days have all gone down like this. The morale? That’s obvious- make sure your dad is rich. Or, its ok to have a nice treat once in a while, especially when its green. Don’t go too crazy, but allow yourself something nice and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Need more motivation to go to the gym? What if you were charged $$ if you missed the gym, but earned money if you did? That is exactly what Gympact is. A complete coincidence happened recently, and I found out that the makers of this FREE app were in the same building as my office. I met with the CEO, Yifan Zhang, to go over the concept. The focus of our chat was how to set up “Biggest Loser contests in the office (I usually run a contest 3-4 times a year). They have a new group concept that we are going to beta test with our office. We then started talking about how the app works.

Yifan explained the concept. You download the app for free, commit to working out a certain number of days a week (example 3). You also connect to your Paypal account or credit card. When you go to the gym, you “check in”, and you are all set. HOWEVER, if you miss your 3 days a week, you get charged money. If you make your commitment, you get money back. Cool!
That’s about it! Check their site out and the app.

I bought this DVD on a whim a few weeks ago. I had little to no experience with kettlebells. I had learned the swign and snatch from my trainer a few years ago but had never really used them. I was looking for a good cardio DVD to do as “burners” after lifting. Doing my research, I learned about this DVD, and how you can do it all at once as a total ass-kicker, or you could do it in sections. I copied the product description below and will add my experiences.
but first of all, the DVD is pretty lo-fi, which is awesome for someone that is accustomed to having to sit through 10 minutes of product promo before and after each DVD. Pop the dvd in, and you are face to face with Keith Weber on a beach with a kettlebell. The music is straight out of 90′s porn, which is hilarious. Insert your favorite title here- I will go with A Rear and Pleasant Danger

In order to increase my work capacity, I do an upper body session on a lower body workout day and vice versa. There is also an ab section that will cause you to burn like Newman when he had fleas.
So I started off using a 25 pound bell and went through the sections one by one over the last 2 weeks
PRODUCT COPY WITH MY .02c
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll experience when you dive into Keith Weber’s brutal shakedown:
The Manmaker
Bang off with a series of challenging, hi-octane drills: 10 thrusters/side, 10 clean and presses/side, then 10 OH squats/side, 10 windmills/side, and finally 10 swings or snatches/side.
COACHKOOSH: If hi-octane means stopping at 7 reps 2 minutes in and wondering if I should puke in the catbox or outside, sure- high octane
The Upper Body Blast
Continue with a blistering series of upper body oriented exercises strung together in push-pull fashion in order to prevent over-emphasizing one particular movement pattern and to avoid burning out too early. One side of the body, preferably the non-dominant side, is worked first, then the other. Places deliberate and unforgiving stress on the respiratory muscles. The exercises include, in order, windmills, push presses, cleans, clean and presses, rowing, pushups, upright rowing, then finally the hot potato drill.
COACHKOOSH – just read that and tell me how you would feel about doing those non-stop for 10 reps each
The Leg Burner
You ain’t kidding! If you’re not ready for this you could feel like you’d sucked on gasoline then thrust a burning torch down your throat. Could be called the lung burner as well because of the intensity of this series. Just be prepared… 10 overhead sq/side, 10 squat kicks/side, 10 overhead lunges/side, 10 tactical lunges/side, 10 swings/side, and finally 20 bodyweight squats.
COACHKOOSH – yay! BW squats! That should bring me some relief, right?
The Swing Workout
Still standing? Then pound out a series of swing variations interspersed with the hot potato drill to allow the hip and thigh muscles to recover slightly, while keeping the heart rate high and working the core in a different way. The swing variations include one handed swings, high pulls, clean and presses, cleans, then back to standard swings. The clock says it only took 6:45, but you’ll swear the clock lied as every cell in your body screams for relief…
COACHKOOSH – I actually really like this, but can’t imagine how it would be after the first couple of sessions
The Slingshot
But wait, there’s more savagery to be enjoyed: between the legs pass variation of the Slingshot is performed between sets of 2 handed drills including squats, overhead push presses, tactical lunges, thrusters. That’ll teach you!
COACHKOOSH – I was actually really wishing I had bright pink KB to do these

The Turkish Getup
A “nice” way to finish off. 5 sets per side consisting of 2 getups, 2 overhead squats, 2 windmills, then 10 swings (2 handed) before switching sides and repeating the sequence. A good focus training as it is difficult to breathe, concentrate on form, and keep pushing through the fatigue at this stage of the training session. Also a dynamite routine done on its own.
COACHKOOSH- I really, really suck at these. I wound up doing them modified. Great burner though!
Core Workout/Cooldown
Administer the final smacks to your battered body with this highly demanding routine cunningly crafted to scorch the pre-fatigued core muscles as well as hammer the last remnants of your cardiovascular system. This workout is unorthodox in the sense that the reps are high relative to what would be recommended for pure strength purposes. Live with it!
Do you like the psycho-satisfaction of murdering your abs? Is that what you get off on? Do you feel that you haven’t really worked out unless your abs are contorting in pain? Then here’s the perfect Killer drills for you, you devious twisted person…
COACHKOOSH – yes! yes I do!
The evil drills span from situps with the bell, crunch variations, lateral leg raises, floor wipers, Russian twists, partial get-ups for the obliques, frontal leg raises, followed by a brief stretching session, to bring you back from hell…
COACHKOOSH – I don’t think you need me to add anything here, do you? If you want your ass kicked, and make your abs pop, I would buy this DVD. I have used it 5 days of the week, and I can really notice the difference.

In my mind, there is nothing better than dessert, and if you don’t get to eat it daily, its worse than watching a marathon of Helen Hunt movies. One of the things that I loved about moving to the Renegade Diet is that I could unabashedly gorge myself at night.
One thing that I was at a loss for though was my Greek yogurt. I loved it so, but noticed that the less I ate dairy, the more allergic I got to it. Clear runny nose, sore throat, tired. Every time, no questions asked. But then, one day late last week, I saw it, and like the salmon of Capistrano I flocked and bought 7 of them. What was this miracle of the Whole Foods dairy section?
GREEK MUTHAGRABIN COCONUT YOGURT

Strawberry So Deicious Greek yogurt with 25g of beautiful carbs
1 scoop Vanilla protein powder
1 Tablespoon of your nut butter of choice. I am currently tearing thru Pecan butter
Mass gainers: I add 1 scoop of potato starch
